Born in West Yorkshire in the North of England where she still lives.
Heather trained as a nurse before embarking on a twenty-year career in charity retail management which gave her the opportunity to work alongside people from all walks of life; this was the initial source of her inspiration and motivation to begin writing. Holidays on the North York Moors and in Dorset further fuelled her imagination and desire to write.
Heather started writing in her early twenties and later in life to enhance her natural writing gift studied Creative Writing. Early articles inspired by individuals in her family were published by magazines which encouraged the tenacious pursuit of her dream of becoming a published book author. Heather was successful in having her first book, ‘Another Man’s Trousers and Other Tales’ writing as Sue Whitaker published in 2012.
Heather’s involvement with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for over ten years generated a passion for animal welfare and an interest in conservation to protect natural habitats. Her love for animals and nature is made evident in the delightful ‘Harry and Me’, book series.
Since 2012 Heather has gone on to write and have published many captivating and well-received books for both adults and children.
Following her re-marriage in 2017, she decided to continue her writing career using the pseudonym Heather Byett; she has three children and five grandchildren.
