ROTM WINNER OCTOBER 2016 INTERVIEW...

Picture
Hello and welcome to ETA Publishing House 'Review Of The Month' page.
ROTM is a monthly competition held for our Book Reviewers where we collect all the reviews for the Book Of The Month, read through and pick the review with the most detail and though put into it.
Winners of ROTM receive a little prize in the post, a feature on our website and an email campaign sent to all our reviewers with the link to their blog and review.

This months winner was Kim Feasey who wrote a very detailed and honest review of Remember Remember.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Kim and finding out a bit more on her thoughts of the ETA Book Review Club.

1- How did you feel when it was announced that you wrote the winning review for Review of the month?
I was totally surprised and excited. I wasn't sure whether my review was what you were looking for- so I was pleased that it was!

2- Are you pleased with your review, is there anything you'd change about it?
I did enjoy the book and I hope that my review expressed that. I think it is a powerful book that could be used on many levels to address many issues including bullying and disabilities.

3- Have you checked out anymore of Sue Whitaker's books yet? If so which ones
I did look her up on Good Reads and I am going to buy 'Another Man's trousers' which sounds like a fun read.

4- Are you enjoying the ETA book club?
Yes- it was great to receive a book that I probably would not have come across and I enjoyed reading it and then thinking about how to review it.

5- In three words, describe how winning review of the month felt?

A complete surprise!

Congratulations Kim, on winning ROTM! You can see more of Kim over on her blog... Linked here.

Read Kim's review of Remember Remember:

"I really wasn't sure what to expect from this book- but it really leaves an impression. It's a very short book but would be a really powerful tool for senior schools to cover firework safety and bullying in general. A young girls life is changed forever by the really stupid criminal actions of a young lad. Carla enjoys her life as a young 14 year old girl , enjoying make up and hair and shopping. The very traumatic events following Bonfire Night are vividly described and make you very involved with the after effects and hoping that things will improve for the girl. She encounters medical people and counsellors who try to help her through the immediate period following the trauma and although she can't comprehend how life can go on, provide her with the tools to forge ahead and try to find the positives in a new life. It shares support from unexpected quarters which show the value of kindness making the biggest difference you can imagine in coping with an unimaginable existence- but also in the strength that you can find from deep within. Life, although dramatically altered, does go on- and the outlook you had before will be changed forever. But your experiences can make you instrumental in helping someone else through the darkest, bleakest times. The book explores how a stupid, thoughtless action can change lives forever- as family members share in your pain and fears for the future. If this book can make just one person stop and think about fireworks being personal hand grenades in the wrong hands and encourage maybe the sale of fireworks to be limited to public displays only, it will be a wonderful outcome. This made me keen to search out more work by Sue Whitaker and although this one is aimed at the YA market I feel it has a wide reaching appeal. It's a painful read, but really draws you in turning the pages."  5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you for being a part of the Book club throughout October, we will see you soon with the winner of our next book... Dear Anyone.
