Books have been around for ages, you probably read loads of them in school and maybe in your teenage years but how many of you now can say you’re an active reader? Yeah me too.
Growing up I had always been a bookworm, my nan would always say how I had my head in a book and I did.
It was a great hobby of mine that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Going into my early teens I stopped reading as much as I used too, I would occasionally pick up a book or purchase my favourite celebrities newly released read but I would never finish them.
It made me sad to see something I loved so very much growing up, just sat on a shelf.
Until a year ago…
That’s when I picked up a book that I started but never finished, I read it all the way through and I felt GREAT!
I hadn’t realised before but reading really does help you, for me personally it helped relieve stress and helped me to wind down.
You could sit with a warm drink and a blanket in winter and an ice drink under a tree in the shade in the summer, books are so versatile.
Reading is something to do on the days where you’re bored or lonely, something you can do in bed at night, on your lunch break or even eating your breakfast.
You can read on a bus, in a car, walking *we do not reccommned walking while reading a book as many things could happen such as stepping in dog poo, walking into a lamppost or something much worse!*
You can read a book anywhere.
I could go on forever about why reading is good for you but I won’t, I will however challenge you to go to a store and find a good book, read it until the end and see how great you’ll feel.
